Not Too Scary version for the kids
CAVE CREEK – A local school is capitalizing on Halloween taking place during this year’s Wild West Days community celebration.
The folks at the Rising Sun Montessori Day School will be holding a Not Too Scary Haunted House at the school at 38246 N. Hazelwood Circle (just south of Basin Road) in Cave Creek. The non-scary haunted house and its fall festival counterpart will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Halloween night (Friday, Oct. 31) and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1.
The school will be divided into sections for the Wild West Days fun. The Not Too Scary Haunted House will be held in one classroom and the Harvest Fall Festival portion of the entertainment will be held in another. School superintendent Mara Fishman said hot apple cider, face painting, crafts and children’s games will be held.
Hot dogs will be barbecued in the large back yard. Children will be able to trick or treat there.
“We wanted to offer options for the kids and provide somewhere safe they could come for Halloween,” she said.
Attending the haunted house is free and open to the public.
Fishman said most of the Montessori students will be dressed in Halloween costumes for the evening. She encourages anyone who wants to also come in costume.
Fishman is pleased that Halloween falls during Wild West Days this year so the Montessori students can contribute to the community celebration.
“It feels wonderful to do this in conjunction with Wild West Days,” she said.
